Lessons Learned - New Personal Record at 50 meter ISSF Pistol

On March 12th 2011, at Jamor, Oeiras, Portugal, at the Portuguese Shooting Federation "Opening Tournament" I broke my personal record at ISSF 50 meter Pistol with my electronic Morini CM  84 E - reaching 486 / 600 - and breaking the mythical barrier of the >8 points (overall average). My previous record was 473. Next goal - the 500 points barrier. Bring on the regionals and the nationals!

My score notes and final score printout - 486 / 200

Finished 12th out of 18

My Morini 84 E - .22 LR, Electronic Trigger "Free" Pistol, ISSF 50m

The lessons learned were taken from Almeida Santos, expert shooter and coach, that helped me on the training sessions one week before and during the match - time management, stress management, and, the key success factor - shooting follow trough: keeping the pistol and the sights on "spot" long after the trigger was released. It improves the overall shooting stance and the sight picture. No more "quick drop" or "let's check the scope"... just keep it "there"... slow... steady... follow. It worked out wonders on my consistency.

Line # 12 at Jamor Shooting Ranmge during the match...
